We pulled RPM data across 27 faceless niches so you can trade guesswork for a shortlist. The spread is wider than most creators expect: the top of the list earns roughly ten times per view what the bottom does, and the difference comes down almost entirely to advertiser intent, not video quality.

How we built the ranking

RPM - revenue per thousand monetized views - is set by what advertisers will bid to reach a niche's audience, plus how many of that niche's views are ad-eligible. We grouped 27 common faceless niches into four tiers using reported RPM ranges from creators running channels between 50k and 2M views a month, then checked each range against the seasonal swings that push Q4 rates 30-50% above summer lows.

Treat every number as a range, not a promise. Geography moves the needle hard: a channel watched mostly in the US and UK can earn triple the RPM of an identical channel watched mostly in lower-CPM regions. The tiers show you where the ceiling sits; your audience mix decides where inside the range you land.

The four RPM tiers

Here's the shortlist, grouped by earning power rather than popularity.

  • Premium ($18-$40 RPM): personal finance, credit and debt, investing and crypto explainers, insurance, real estate, and B2B software reviews. High intent, deep advertiser pockets.
  • Strong ($9-$18 RPM): tech and AI tool reviews, business and productivity, health and longevity, career and education, and legal explainers. Solid demand, purchase-adjacent audiences.
  • Middle ($4-$9 RPM): travel, cooking and recipes, DIY and home improvement, science and space, history documentaries, and psychology. Broad appeal, moderate advertiser competition.
  • Volume ($1-$4 RPM): meditation and sleep, gaming clips, top-10 entertainment lists, motivational compilations, ambient music, true-crime narration, and satisfying-clip channels. Cheap to produce, but you need scale before they matter.

The ten-to-one gap between the premium and volume tiers comes from advertiser intent, not production quality.

Why two channels with the same views earn differently

A finance channel and a meditation channel can both hit 500k views in a month and see wildly different deposits. The finance viewer is minutes from opening a brokerage account, so advertisers bid $30+ to reach them. The meditation viewer is falling asleep - the lowest-intent state on the platform - and ad slots clear at a couple of dollars. Same effort, same view count, 10x the revenue. That's why the niche decision outranks nearly every production decision you'll make.

The highest-RPM niche you can't produce consistently is worth less than the mid-tier niche you can publish three times a week.

How to use the shortlist

RPM is one input, not the verdict. Cross a high tier with a niche you can produce cheaply and rank in, and you've got a candidate worth building. The full method for weighing RPM against production cost and ranking difficulty lives in the faceless niche playbook - start there, then use this ranking to fill the monetization filter with real numbers.

Once you have two or three candidates, pressure-test them before you commit. Our teardown on validating a niche with three competitor channels shows you how to confirm there's room and a gap you can own. And since AdSense is only the first revenue stream, map the rest early with the faceless monetization map so a mid-RPM niche with strong affiliate or product potential doesn't get cut for the wrong reason.

The takeaway

The 27 niches sort cleanly into four earning tiers, and the ten-to-one spread between top and bottom is the single biggest lever in faceless YouTube. Use this list to build a shortlist, but decide with the full scorecard: RPM ceiling times production velocity times ranking odds. Pick two candidates from the premium or strong tiers, validate them this week, and commit to the one you can publish consistently.
